MDF is rigid enough not to flex under a decorated tier, unlike thin acrylic or wire supports that wobble as soon as the cake is moved. This is the piece that makes teddy-holding-cake designs, floating tiers and suspended structures achievable for a home baker instead of only a studio. Wrap the structure in fondant, cover it in buttercream or hide it behind a sculpted figure - once decorated, only the effect shows. IMPORTANT: MDF is not a food-contact material.
